Some of our Favorite Twin Cities Summer Activities

Hello, summer! Chirping birds, beautiful sunlight, happy people and more are ready for us to enjoy. Grab your polarized, wood framed, Lifted sunglasses and of course, explore the great outdoors to Live. Life. Lifted. Now the big question is, "what's the plan?" Since you're looking to explore the Twin Cities, there's a good chance of trying to figure out exactly what you can do to make the most of your time. Don’t fret — summer is sure to be awesome. Here are a few fun things you can do around the Minneapolis/St Paul area.

Enjoy the Lake Life

First off, summer in the Twin Cities won't be complete without checking out the lakes or having a swell time at the beach. As most of us already know, Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes; so of course, you have no choice but to enjoy the lakeside life. That said, you won't be wrong to get your sunglasses and of course, explore one or two of Lake Bde Maka Ska’s or Lake Harriet’s many beaches. But what if you're not a big fan of the beach life? Well, the good news is, there are still other super fun things to do at the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes. You can go on a summer bike ride around Lake Harriet or better yet, enjoy a super fun boat ride on Lake of the Isles or Cedar Lake. Make sure to come back next week as we tell you all about the AMAZING Minneapolis Chain of Lakes.

Explore Minnehaha Regional Park

Next up is Minnehaha Regional Park — a perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of Minneapolis. The 167 acres park boasts incredible hiking and biking paths; just perfect to get totally immersed in the beautiful forests of Minnesota. What's more, Minnehaha Regional Park is home to breathtaking gardens and there's also a picnic area to unwind and relax. And oh, you can also choose to have fun at the volleyball court or try out your skills at the golf course. All in all, a super fun place for anyone and everyone! Be sure to check it out this summer.

Visit the Parks for Free Movies and Music

Finally, you and your friends can head out to the some of the best parks in the country throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul! The plan here is to keep up with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board and of course, learn more about the movie or concert that's about to go live. The good news is, just about everything here is free! What more could you ask for?

Check out the Food Scene

Another great way to enjoy the Twin Cities is to check out some of the amazing food and drink options throughout the Twin Cities. When it comes to food, we’re pretty partial to Northeast Minneapolis at Young Joni or Pizza Nea for the best slices in town. If you’re looking to satisfy a need for some down home cooking, head to the Bark and The Bite on University Avenue for our favorite BBQ or if you’re in St. Paul, check out Revival on Selby Ave. What goes good with a great slice of pizza or some fried chicken? Beer. Some of our favorite breweries are Insight brewing on Hennipen Ave., Bauhaus Brew Labs in Northeast Minneapolis and Tin Whiskers brewing in Ct. Paul. Last but not least… you’ve gotta satisfy your sweet tooth. Be sure to visit Izzy's Ice Cream, Minnesota Nice Cream or Milkjam Creamery!

Enjoy sponsored events

Summertime in the Twin Cities is full of amazing events everywhere! Visit many of them to see performances, meet new people, try new foods and check out vendor areas. Many events are held in parks or breweries, but some of the large ones shut down entire streets. You can find Lifted's vintage camper pop up shop at events like Grand Old Day, Open Streets Minneapolis, Stillwater Lumberjack Days, Aquatennial Skyline Fest and more throughout the entire Summer. See our Facebook page to learn more about these events.
